Holy Cross Mission Support 2024

Each year, the members of Holy Cross vote to provide monetary support (above and beyond our monthly giving to the church) to four organizations.

January—March
Dakota Boys & Girls Ranch
Dakota Boys and Girls Ranch is a Christ-centered residential treatment and educational center for children and their families. The Ranch gives children a safe place to live, learn, and heal. They provide exceptional and innovative trauma-informed care to kids and their families. dakotaranch.org

April—June
Lead A Child Supporting Christian education in third-world countries. Through collecting gifts and donations from supporters and using the funds to provide scholarships, school registration, and supplies for children so that they can attend Lutheran schools and after school programs. They also provide professional development for leaders and teachers at their sites, with an emphasis on effective ways to share the Gospel and teach Biblical truths to children. leadachild.org

July—September
“Adopt a Student” (Lutheran Leadership) During this quarter we are collecting offerings for three men in our church who are preparing for ministry. Currently we have: Isaiah, a first year student at Concordia University, Nebraska preparing for Pastoral ministry; Vicar Mark who is working towards his pastoral degree online through Concordia Seminary in St. Louis; and Josh, taking classes to complete his Deacons license through our Pacific Southwest District.

October—December
Member Assistance Fund Our internal Holy Cross community fund to help members in need when times get hard. Rest assured we have worked diligently to improve our processes for screening, approving and tracking given funds so you should feel good knowing that everything you give is supporting someone truly in need.

In addition, our congregation carries out several projects each year to support our local community. Recent projects include:

Peanut Butter & Jelly Drive for Vista Del Camino. Peanut butter and jelly are staples that are placed in every food box given out by this Scottsdale area food bank. The bank has requested we provide these two specific items to restock their shelves.

Code Red Summer Heat Relief: Last year was the hottest summer Phoenix has ever had, and it was the deadliest one on record for people experiencing homelessness. This is the second summer that our congregation has collected cases of water and cash to be given to Phoenix Rescue Mission to provide this life-saving resource to those experiencing homelessness. We collected more than 7,500 bottles of water this summer!
